Twenty years on from the first edition, The Wealth Report has become the global benchmark for prime property and private capital. The 2026 report captures a global landscape that is simultaneously more concentrated and more mobile.
A few of this year's headline findings
- The global ultra-high-net-worth population reached 713,626 individuals in 2026 an average of 89 people crossing the US$30 million threshold every single day over the past five years.
- Prime residential prices rose 3.2% globally in 2025, outperforming mainstream housing. Tokyo (+58.5%) and Dubai (+25.1%) led the rankings, while London recorded a -4.7% decline.
- Approximately 10,000 family offices are now active worldwide, with the sector growing at around 5% annually as families professionalise their investment strategies.
- Global commercial real estate investment grew 12% in 2025, with private capital remaining the largest source of funding for the fourth consecutive year.
Themes shaping the year ahead
The report explores how rising tax pressure and political rhetoric are accelerating the global mobility of wealth, with established hubs increasingly used on a "dip-in, dip-out" basis. It tracks the rise of new prime residential markets in Abu Dhabi, Mumbai and Brisbane, and examines how investors are diversifying into data centres, branded residences and operational real estate.
It also revisits the concept of plutonomy first highlighted in the inaugural 2007 edition and asks whether two decades of compounding wealth at the top has now reached a structural turning point.
